Objectives of the Program:

To train general surgeons in the medical and surgical management nuances of endocrine gland pathologies such that they will be able to successfully develop a focus in Endocrine Surgery in their future practice. 

Highlights of the Fellowship:

The Emory Endocrine Surgery Fellowship is a 1-year rotating apprenticeship style program rotating between our five high volume endocrine surgery and head and neck endocrine surgeons. Fellows will have ample exposure and cases in both benign and malignant thyroid diseases as well as parathyroid, adrenal, and functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. 

Average Thyroid Case Volume: 160
Average Parathyroid Case Volume: 70
Average Adrenal Case Volume: 30

Neuroendocrine Tumors (NET)

Number of evaluation and management of NET (enteric and pancreatic only) cases per year: 5
Number of operative NET (enteric and pancreatic only) cases per year: 3
Number of NET case discussions per year: 5

The fellow has an opportunity to participate in a Multidisciplinary NET (enteric and pancreatic only) Tumor Board which meets weekly.
