Assistant/Associate Professor, Endocrine Surgery - Rochester, NY

The Department of Surgery at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Strong Memorial Hospital, located in Rochester, NY seeks a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Surgical Oncology. Faculty will be eligible for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Desirable candidates will possess a strong commitment to patient care and resident education. It is expected that candidates will have an interest in developing a broad practice in Endocrine Surgery. Moreover, a successful candidate will have a significant background in research, and be expected to dedicate significant effort towards scholarly pursuits. Strong Memorial Hospital is an 886-bed tertiary care academic medical center. The U of R is located in Rochester, New York and is surrounded by world class culture, affordable housing and nationally ranked public schools. The City of Rochester is a mecca for the arts: home to a philharmonic orchestra, wonderful museums including the Strong National Museum of Play, internationally recognized dance companies as well as The Eastman School of Music. The Rochester International Jazz Festival is one of the top 10 Jazz festivals in the nation. The region boasts access to great watersports both on Lake Ontario as well as the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes region is also home to many internationally known wineries. Rochester has a rich history and was the last step on the underground railroad and the place Frederick Douglas called home. It is also the location of the Susan B. Anthony House making Rochester the epicenter of the woman’s suffrage movement.

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed medical school receiving an MD or equivalent and completed a full surgical training residency program. Candidates must be BE/BC in general surgery and have completed an endocrine surgery fellowship program or a surgical oncology fellowship with a focus in endocrine surgery. Must be eligible for a NYS medical license.
