The University of Kentucky HealthCare is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to serve as the Vice Chair of Education in the Department of Surgery. This exciting opportunity offers a key role in shaping the educational direction of the department. As Vice Chair, you will represent the Department on all educational matters, collaborating closely with the Graduate Medical Education (GME) office and keeping the Department Chair informed on key developments. You will work alongside program and fellowship directors to implement best practices and departmental policies, ensuring a consistent and high-quality educational experience across the board. Additionally, you will guide the Grand Rounds Directors in organizing the department’s annual Grand Rounds and Visiting Professor lecture series, fostering a culture of continuous learning.In this collaborative and rewarding role, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the future of surgical education by overseeing the development of new residency and fellowship programs, as well as addressing accreditation and professionalism issues. Working closely with the Chair and various task forces, including those focused on leadership, professionalism, integrity and wellbeing, you will help implement best practices that elevate the learning environment for all trainees. You will also collaborate with the finance team to ensure effective resource allocation and work in partnership with other Vice Chairs to advance education in key areas like research, quality, and leadership. The Vice Chair of Education will work closely with the Chair and the Co-Directors of the Department’s Global Health Program to advance global and rural health opportunities for our learners.
